Sketch journal, 6/22/2018       Every morning I take my dogs out for a walk and while we're out I sketch.  Some of my sketches turn into paintings.  This is from my sketch journal 6/22/2018.  In the upper right corner there's a scene from a pond with water lilies, turtles and dragonflies.  In the left upper corner there's a bee and flower. There are fish along with a dragonfly in the lower left corner.  These are some of the things I saw on my walk that day.  

Egret Portrait,  (watercolor) 7x10 Original: $200 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints: $60 This painting is from a drawing I did in the park.  This egret let me get very close to it.

Fishing  (watercolor) 15&1/2x12 Original: $400, 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints:$60 This painting is from a sketch I did of an egret.  I called it fishing because the egret and the person in the background are fishing.

Egret in the Morning  (watercolor) 16x20 Original: $600 11x14 matted prints:$35 16x20 matted prints $60 While on a walk with my dogs I saw this Egret preening itself.  It was very busy and didn't seem to mind or notice my sketching it.  Later at home I turned it into a painting.

Dragonfly Dream  (watercolor) 26x30 Original: $900 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints $60 This painting started with a sketch I made at the park of two dragonflies resting for a moment.  I wanted a different kind of background for them so then I added the flowers.  The two cormorants are from another park sketch.  Altogether I feel like the painting has a dreamy feeling.
