These turtles were enjoying the sun at the park

These turtles and ducks were all hanging out together today

These two turtles were enjoying the sun today

I saw lots of turtles today, including two that were far from the water, the one looked like she was laying eggs, the other looked like she was looking for a place to lay her eggs

These geese were grazing while the turtles were enjoying the sun

This egret was sitting on a tree branch while the turtles were enjoying the sun

These turtles looked like they were having a conversation

Sketch journal, 6/22/2018       Every morning I take my dogs out for a walk and while we're out I sketch.  Some of my sketches turn into paintings.  This is from my sketch journal 6/22/2018.  In the upper right corner there's a scene from a pond with water lilies, turtles and dragonflies.  In the left upper corner there's a bee and flower. There are fish along with a dragonfly in the lower left corner.  These are some of the things I saw on my walk that day.

Star Turtle, photo This is a photo of a turtle I saw with a leaf on it last fall, I call it "Star turtle" because the leaf is star shaped.

This painting was made from a sketch I made at the park of two turtles, it made me think of a mother and child kissing.  I love to watch turtles. Kissing Turtles , (watercolor) 13x6&1/2 Original: $350, 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints: $60

Turtle Hangout (watercolor) Original: $350 11x14 matted prints $35 16x20 matted prints $60 These turtles were just enjoying the sun. This painting was from a drawing I made at the park.

Turtle Rain , (watercolor), 18 x 24 Original: $750 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints $60 I started with the painting of the flowers, from a sketch I did while on a hike.  I wanted to add the rain drops and the turtles were from an old painting that I wasn't happy with, I felt like they needed a new home.

Dragonfly Dream  (watercolor) 26x30 Original: $900 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints $60 This painting started with a sketch I made at the park of two dragonflies resting for a moment.  I wanted a different kind of background for them so then I added the flowers.  The two cormorants are from another park sketch.  Altogether I feel like the painting has a dreamy feeling.

Turtle Party  (watercolor) Original: $350 11x14 matted prints: $35 16x20 matted prints $60 This painting is from a sketch at the little park by Pixie Playland in Concord California. There always seems to be lots of turtles there and these turtles are enjoying the sun.

I'm participating in the Creekside Artist's Guild show this weekend at the Clayton Library in Clayton.  This is one of the paintings that will be in the show. When doing this painting I started with the flowers and then decided it needed something else. Turtle Rain , (watercolor) 18x24 Original: $750 11x14 matted prints $35
